Introducing the Menu at Frio Rico

Frio Rico, nestled in East Boston, is a vibrant ice cream shop known for its authentic Peruvian flavors. Their menu shines with inventive treats like the minuta—a traditional Peruvian snowcone—topped with house-made tamarindo sauce, bursting with fresh tamarind pits that highlight its authenticity. The Diablito flavor, combining lime, salt, and chamoy, delivers a bold, tangy kick that excites the palate.

Fruit lovers will appreciate the coconut and banana offerings, rich with real chunks of coconut, providing a creamy, tropical experience. The shaved ice options delight with fresh, vegan-friendly fruit syrups like mango and tamarind, perfectly balanced with a drizzle of sweet milk for added indulgence.

Beyond ice cream, Frio Rico also stocks a curated selection of Peruvian staples—alfajores, budin, chicha morada, and more—ensuring an immersive cultural journey. Friendly service and fair prices enhance the warm, inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot for authentic Peruvian desserts and treats.

I got a minuta (Peruvian snowcone) with Tamarindo and Diablito which is lime, salt and Chamoy. It was delicious, and the tamarindo is definitely house made, with all the pits still in the sauce which really makes it look fresh. My husband got coconut and banana and it had the best coconut flavor with chunks of coconut. They’re super nice, and also the store has lots of Peruvian products which makes me want to try out some Peruvian recipes.
